題目:Stability and Control of Hybrid Dynamical Systems
Abstract. Hybrid dynamical systems have attracted the attention of many researchers in recent years. Such systems are capable of exhibiting simultaneously several kinds of dynamic behavior in different parts of the system, e.g., continuous-time dynamics, discrete-time dynamics, and jump phenomena. They provide a natural framework for mathematical modeling of complex reactive systems in which physical processes interact with man-made automated environments. This talk will discuss some recent results on the basic theory, stability and control of hybrid dynamical systems.
Short_bio: Xinzhi Liu is a Full Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, Canada, and the President of Waterloo Chinese Professors Association. He received the B.Sc. degree in mathematics from Shandong Normal University, Jinan, China, in 1982, and the Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics from University of Texas, Arlington, in 1988. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, from 1988 to 1990. He joined the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, as an Assistant Professor in 1990, where he became an Associate Professor with tenure and a Full Professor in 1994 and 1997 respectively. He was a Cheung Kong Scholar awarded in 2001 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
His research areas include nonlinear analysis, stability theory, hybrid dynamical systems, impulsive control, chaos synchronization, artificial neural networks, and communication security. He is the author or coauthor of over 300 research articles and 2 research monographs and 20 edited books. He is the Chief Editor of the journal, DCDIS Series A: Mathematical Analysis, the Co-Chief Editor of the Journal, DCDIS Series B: Applications and Algorithms, and the Co-Chief Editor of the Journal of Nonlinear Systems and Applications. He was an invited plenary speaker at over dozen of International research conferences and also served as General Chair for many such international conferences. He supervised over 20 PhD students who are now regular faculty members at universities in Austrlia, Canada, China, UAE, UK and USA.
