內(nèi)容摘要:
Chinese universities have long had success with the straight lecture style delivery of content to students. This "chalk and talk" format has been used in teaching in American universities with less success as the attention-span of students has decreased and their desire to more fully understand and test the models they are learning in the classroom environment. This has manifest itself in application of a broad scope of learning models that fall under the umbrella of experiential learning; that is, learning by doing. During my presentation I introduce my individualized model of experiential learning and describe its application to an introductory course in macroeconomics. We then take part in an experiential learning exercise in communication, followed by a discussion of advantages and challenges of experiential learning. Time permitting, we will briefly discuss challenges associated with movement to a flipped classroom or online learning environment.
主講人簡介:
Cheryl Wachenheim is a Professor of Agribusiness and Applied Economics at North Dakota State University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota, minoring in Agricultural and Applied Economics and a Master's and Doctorate in Agricultural Economics and an MBA from Michigan State University. She teaches classes in economics, risk analysis, strategic marketing and management, and agricultural policy, sales, finance, and marketing. Research interests focus on eliciting perceptions and valuations from consumers, firms, students and other stakeholders and decision makers. Analysis then allows for identification of high-value marketing and management strategies. She is currently teaching at Renmin University in Beijing as a visiting Distinguished Chair Fulbright Lecturer.
謝麗爾•瓦赫海姆(Cheryl J. Wachenheim)是美國北達(dá)科他州立大學(xué)(North Dakota State University)農(nóng)業(yè)商務(wù)與應(yīng)用經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)系教授。她本科畢業(yè)于明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)動物科學(xué)系,,并輔修農(nóng)業(yè)與應(yīng)用經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué),,后在密歇根州立大學(xué)獲得農(nóng)業(yè)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)碩士和博士學(xué)位以及MBA學(xué)位。她講授經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué),、農(nóng)業(yè)銷售,、農(nóng)業(yè)金融,、農(nóng)業(yè)營銷和戰(zhàn)略營銷與管理等課程,,研究興趣集中在消費者、企業(yè),、學(xué)生和其他利益相關(guān)者或者決策者的引發(fā)認(rèn)知和價值評價,,分析結(jié)果有利于識別和驗證高回報的營銷和管理戰(zhàn)略。2015年8月,,她作為美國富布萊特高級訪問學(xué)者到中國人民大學(xué)農(nóng)業(yè)與農(nóng)村發(fā)展學(xué)院訪學(xué)一年,。
