主講人簡(jiǎn)介：馮欣, 原北理工自動(dòng)控制系碩士畢業(yè), 美圣路易斯華盛頓大學(xué)系統(tǒng)科學(xué)博士學(xué)位. 現(xiàn)任美國(guó)Marquette University大學(xué)終身教授. 主要研究方向?yàn)镮ntelligent Control and Computational Intelligence, Dynamic Modeling of Nonlinear and Chaotic Systems, Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition. 過(guò)去10余年作為主要科研項(xiàng)目主持人,曾獲得美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)基金會(huì),美國(guó)醫(yī)療研究院, 美國(guó)太空總署,以及工業(yè)界多個(gè)科研項(xiàng)目，近200萬(wàn)美元科研經(jīng)費(fèi). 先后發(fā)表80多篇論文,。獲得美國(guó)3項(xiàng)發(fā)明專利,。美國(guó)電機(jī)電子工程師協(xié)會(huì) (IEEE) 高級(jí)會(huì)員，多次擔(dān)任多個(gè)大型國(guó)際會(huì)議的執(zhí)行主席,，分會(huì)主席,，和組委會(huì)委員,并任美國(guó)多家公司高級(jí)顧問(wèn)。
 
講座內(nèi)容摘要：

This talk summarizes a new perspective in the area of engineering education, called Discovery Learning that is currently being practiced in the College of Engineering (COE) at Marquette University. It is essentially a student-centered learning approach which turns the traditional passive learning mode into an active one. We will review the education literature and document examples of discovery learning currently practiced in the COE and other American universities, and discuss the COE-specific definition of discovery learning.  We also will discuss the assessment of the benefits, costs, and tradeoffs associated with increasing the level of discovery learning in the COE.
